Examples of environment related projects
For BOSAQ we designed and built the first SolarAQ prototype. SolarAQ is a modular and compact solar powered water treatment system. The concept consists of a treatment unit allowing the flexible integration of different types of processes, a separate battery/process control unit and a foldable solar panel system. Logistic limitations, ease of deployment, safety, ergonomics and energy efficiency were major design drivers. Looking forward to see SolarAQ in the field!
In the context of the BELARE scientific expeditions we redesigned and improved the ice drill used by the ULB (Free University of Brussels) during their field campaigns in Antarctica. Apart from the modified drill-head a device was also built to retrieve ‘lost’ ice cores in case of problems with the drilling equipment.
